Envelope

Complete manual and reference for the Envelope module.

UPDATED MAR 9, 2026

How Does It Work?#

Envelope is a classic ADSR generator with end-of-rise and end-of-cycle triggers, plus selectable soft or hard retrigger behavior.

Quick Overview#

  • The module responds to a Gate input and generates one unipolar envelope.
  • ENV outputs the main ADSR shape.
  • EOR pulses when attack finishes.
  • EOC pulses when release reaches zero.
  • The panel also includes a manual TRIG button and a retrigger mode switch.

Inputs And Outputs#

PortTypeWhat It Does
GateGate inputStarts attack when it goes high and starts release when it goes low.
EnvCV outputMain envelope output in the standard 0V..+5V range.
EORTrigger outputFires a short pulse at the end of the attack stage.
EOCTrigger outputFires a short pulse when the envelope fully returns to zero.

Controls Reference#

ControlRangeDefaultBehavior
A0.00002..10 s0.01 sAttack time.
D0.00002..10 s0.1 sDecay time.
S0..10.7Sustain level as a normalized fraction of full scale.
R0.00002..10 s0.3 sRelease time.
RetrigSoft, HardSoftChooses whether a new gate restarts from the current level or resets to zero first.
TRIGMomentaryManual gate button for auditioning the envelope from the panel.

Behavior Notes#

  • Soft retrigger keeps the current envelope level and rises from there.
  • Hard retrigger forces the envelope back to 0 before starting attack.
  • ENV is scaled to 0V..+5V.
  • EOR and EOC are short unipolar trigger pulses of about 1 ms.
  • With no gate patched, the envelope stays idle unless you use the panel TRIG button.
