Attenuator

Complete manual and reference for the Attenuator module.

UPDATED MAR 9, 2026

How Does It Work?#

Attenuator scales a single incoming voltage from zero to unity, then optionally clamps the result to a bipolar ±5V or ±10V range.

Quick Overview#

  • One In jack feeds one Out jack.
  • Level only attenuates. At 1.0, the module is unity gain.
  • Clamp can stay OFF or limit the output to ±5V or ±10V.

Inputs And Outputs#

PortTypeWhat It Does
InMultiAccepts any voltage signal you want to scale.
OutMultiSends the attenuated result after optional clamping.

Controls Reference#

ControlValuesDefaultBehavior
Level0..11Sets the amount of attenuation. 1 is unchanged level, 0 is silence / 0V.
ClampOFF, 5V, 10VOFFApplies no limit, ±5V, or ±10V limiting to the output.

Behavior Notes#

  • If In is unpatched, the output is 0V.
  • Clamping happens after the level stage.
  • Level changes are smoothed, so knob moves do not step abruptly.

Typical Uses#

  • Tame a modulation source before it hits a sensitive destination.
  • Reduce audio or CV level without changing polarity.
  • Keep a signal inside ±5V or ±10V when patching into downstream modules.
