How Does It Work?#
Spectrum Analyzer shows the frequency content of one or two incoming signals on a logarithmic frequency display, with averaging, peak hold, reference capture, adjustable frequency and dB ranges, and selectable color themes.
Quick Overview#
- Two monitor inputs:
AandB. - Overlay modes for
A,B, orA+B. - Reference trace can be hidden, shown, or captured from the current view.
- The display range is adjustable in both frequency and dB.
Inputs#
| Port | Type | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
A | Multi | First analyzed input. |
B | Multi | Second analyzed input. |
Spectrum Analyzer has no outputs. It is analysis-only.
Display And Routing Controls#
| Control | Values | Default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
LIVE/HOLD | LIVE, HOLD | LIVE | Freezes or resumes the incoming analysis. |
GRID | Off, On | On | Shows or hides frequency and dB guides. |
FILL | Off, On | On | Toggles filled spectrum shading under the trace. |
PEAK | Off, On | On | Shows or hides peak-hold traces. |
A / B / A+B | 3 overlay modes | A+B | Chooses which input traces are visible. |
REF OFF | Off | Off | Clears and hides the reference trace. |
SHOW | On | Off | Shows the saved reference trace. |
CAP | Capture | Off | Captures the current displayed trace as the new reference. |
FFT | 1K, 2K, 4K | 2K | Selects FFT size. |
FPS | 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 | 60 | Sets display refresh rate. |
THEME | 1..6 | 1 | Cycles through the available analyzer themes. |
Knob Controls#
| Control | Range | Default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
AVG | 0..1 | 0.72 | Smooths the spectrum over time. |
DECAY | 0.1..30 | 8 | Sets how quickly the peak-hold trace falls. |
TILT | -12..12 | 0 | Applies display tilt compensation in dB. |
GAIN | -24..24 | 0 | Adds display gain compensation before plotting. |
LO Hz | 10..2000 | 20 | Sets the low end of the visible frequency range. |
HI Hz | 1000..24000 | 20000 | Sets the high end of the visible frequency range. |
FLOOR | -120..-24 | -96 | Sets the bottom of the visible dB range. |
CEIL | -24..12 | 0 | Sets the top of the visible dB range. |
Reference Trace Notes#
CAPstores the current displayed selection as the reference trace.SHOWoverlays that saved trace on top of the live display.REF OFFclears the saved reference.
Typical Uses#
- Compare two oscillators or two processing stages with
A+B. - Capture a target tonal balance, then match against it with
SHOW. - Narrow the frequency and dB ranges to focus on one problem area in a patch.
