How Does It Work?#
MS-20 HPF is a Korg 35-inspired highpass filter with Cutoff, Res, and Drive, built for aggressive low-end removal and distinctly raw resonance.
Quick Overview#
MS-20 HPFis a single-input, single-output highpass filter.- It provides one large
Cutoffcontrol and two smaller controls forResandDrive. - The cutoff range is
20 Hzto20000 Hz. - Resonance ranges from
0.5to10. Driveranges from0to1and boosts the level hitting the filter core.
Inputs And Outputs#
| Port | Type | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
In | Audio | Source signal sent into the filter. |
Cut | CV | Modulates cutoff frequency. |
Res | CV | Modulates resonance. |
Drive | CV | Modulates input drive amount. |
Out | Audio | Filtered highpass output. |
Controls Reference#
| Control | Range | Default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
Cutoff | 20..20000 Hz | 1000 Hz | Sets the highpass cutoff point. |
Res | 0.5..10 | 1 | Sets resonance intensity. |
Drive | 0..1 | 0 | Raises the input gain before the filter stage. |
CV Behavior#
Cutuses exponential modulation.Resapplies linear modulation and is clamped to the module range.Driveis a positive amount control; the panel labels its CV lane as0V~+5V.- The DSP smooths parameter motion so quick sweeps stay usable.
Character Notes#
- This module is meant to cut body and weight, not preserve it.
- Raising
Drivechanges the tone before the highpass stage, not just the final level. - Pairing it with
MS-20 LPFgives the familiar dual-filter workflow associated with that family.
Panel Layout#
- The large center knob is
Cutoff. - The smaller left knob is labeled
PEAK, which corresponds toRes. - The smaller right knob is
Drive. - The three CV inputs sit above the audio jacks, with
SIGNAL INandSIGNAL OUTat the bottom.
