Complete manual and reference for the Chorus module.

How Does It Work?#
Chorus is a stereo, BBD-leaning modulation effect that thickens a signal with moving delay voices, then lets you shape the result with mix, width, tone, spread, jitter, and drive.
Quick Overview#
- It is a stereo effect with
In L/In RandOut L/Out R. NQandHQswitch between the two chorus engines.Rate,Depth, andDelayset the core motion.FB,Tone, andDriveshape the character of the repeats.Width,Spread, andJittercontrol how wide, separated, and unstable the modulation feels.
Inputs And Outputs#
| Port | Type | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
In L | Audio | Left audio input. |
In R | Audio | Right audio input. If unpatched, it follows In L. |
Rate | CV | Modulates the chorus rate. |
Depth | CV | Modulates modulation depth. |
Delay | CV | Modulates the base delay time. |
FB | CV | Modulates feedback amount. |
Out L | Audio | Left processed output. |
Out R | Audio | Right processed output. |
Controls Reference#
| Control | Values | Default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
Quality | NQ, HQ | NQ | Selects the normal or high-quality chorus engine. |
Rate | 0.03..8 Hz | 0.45 Hz | Sets how fast the chorus moves. |
Depth | 0..1 | 0.42 | Sets modulation depth. |
Delay | 3..35 ms | 11 ms | Sets the base chorus delay time. |
FB | -0.35..0.35 | 0.08 | Adds positive or negative feedback for a thicker or more hollow tone. |
Mix | 0..1 | 0.5 | Blends dry and wet signal. |
Width | 0..1.25 | 1 | Scales stereo width on the wet path. |
Tone | 1200..12000 Hz | 6200 Hz | Sets the brightness of the chorus color. |
Spread | 0..1 | 0.65 | Increases divergence between the modulation voices. |
Jitter | 0..1 | 0.18 | Adds slow drift so the movement feels less static. |
Drive | 0..1 | 0.15 | Pushes the wet path into soft nonlinear color. |
Character Notes#
Rate,Depth, andDelaydefine the basic chorus motion.SpreadandWidthdo different jobs:Spreadchanges how separated the moving voices are, whileWidthchanges how much stereo side energy reaches the output.Tonedarkens or brightens the wet signal and also affects the feedback color.Driveadds saturation after the wet signal is bandwidth-limited, so it behaves more like character shaping than simple gain.HQis the smoother, richer option.NQis lighter and more straightforward.
Patch Notes#
- Start around
Rate 0.3..0.8 Hz,Depth ~0.4, andDelay 10..14 msfor classic chorus territory. - Reduce
Toneand raiseFBfor darker, more vintage movement. - Push
SpreadandWidthtogether when you want a broader stereo image.
